Reverend Shannan Hudgins – Pastor
Pastor Hudgins is the new Senior Pastor of the Federated Church of Charlton. She began her ministry with us on December 1, 2023. For the past four years, she served as a hospice chaplain with Baystate Home Health and Hospice in West Springfield, Massachusetts. During those years, she provided sabbatical and pulpit supply for churches across New England. During the first 20 months of the pandemic, she also served as Minister Assistant at the First Congregational Church of Vernon, Vernon, Connecticut. She holds a Master of Divinity Degree from Andover Newton Theological School at Yale University, as well as a Master of Arts and a Bachelor of Arts in English from Sam Houston State University, Huntsville, Texas.
A native Texan who decamped for the Northeast long ago, the Reverend Hudgins had successful careers in various business and non-profit organizations in New York and New Hampshire before entering ministry. At one point she was also the co-owner of Gibson’s Bookstore in Concord, New Hampshire, a successful independent bookstore. She was ordained in the United Church of Christ in August of 2022. While the Federated Church of Charlton will be her first as a senior pastor, she has extensive experience working in a variety of New England churches in both volunteer and paid staff capacities. She has two adult children and is awaiting the arrival of her first grandchild.
